Wow, Ingrid can go back home today! That's great!
After staying in the hospital for 5 days, Ingrid can go back home now. It's terrific! This time is similar to the last time, to have an operation on her upper spinal, same place but for another cyst on top of previous one. Hope the new tube can work well as previous one and provide instant improvement and can last longer.
Yes, Ingrid had treffic improvement from last similar operation before X'mas 2004. She had more mobilability since then, more happiness, better quality of life.
However, things turned back and got worse in middle of March. MRI scan showed there is another cyst built up on top of the previous one, i.e. more closer to her brain. She lost control of her left arm in about one to two weeks. Right arm became weaker as well. Extreme sore on her head, left chest, arms, and sometimes on her nose and mouth. She needed to rely on regular pain relievers. Used Panadol, Bluephern, Coredine as first, then Morphine, which is stronger, and more often.
Radiotherapy was suggested from the medical team, and would be done after this operation. Most likely would be in late May, in order to control the growth of the tumour, or even kill them all, and preserve functionality of Ingrid's body as much as possible.
Generally, we agreed to try the radiotherapy. However, we quite concern about the possibility of getting other cysts in the future. Personally, I would think it would come back again, and threaten more to Ingrid's life. However, current technology can not prevent it happen, and only surgery can handle it, drain the liquid out. But surgery can't be done all the time. Spinal is not a place like the zip on the clothes, can be open and close anytime. Please, God, don't let the cyst come back.
Radiotherapy itself would be very hard as well. Everyday general ansisitic, five days a week for one month. Wouldn’t be too much for our little girl? How can she cope with this, even though we don’t think about the side effects for the future at the moment? Shall we go ahead or better to stop here. I don’t know. I am struggling. I really don’t know. I think we will follow the suggestion still. Hope it works.
Anyhow, good to be at home. Smiling, laughing, quarrelling will back to the house. Ingrid will be happier to see Isabella around her. Please, God, let this last as longer as possible, forever, ever.
